Cristian Geelen
Biography:
Cristian Geelen (1982) is a photographer and skilled darkroom printer from the Netherlands, specializing in gelatin silver and platinum/palladium processes, all crafted in his personal darkroom.
Early in his career, Cristian focused on documentary photography. More recently, he has embraced a conceptual, contemporary, and philosophical approach to his personal work, focusing on themes such as love, longing, and loss. Occasionally, he integrates written word and poetry into his practice, adding depth and nuance to his artistic expression.
For Cristian, the print is the cornerstone of photography and the essence of his work.
Cristian his work has been included in numerous international publications and exhibitions including L’œil de la photographie, Artdoc Magazine, Les Rencontres d'Arles Nuit de L'Année, Kaunas Photo festival, and had his work present at Paris Photo.

Cristian takes great pride in his craft, not only as a photographer but also as a darkroom printer. Each of his prints is meticulously handcrafted as a silver gelatin or alternative process print, prepared for archival permanence.
